ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria as follows:

• Either an annual turnover in excess of 50 million euros (£44,845,000) and an annual balance sheet total in excess of 43 million euros (£38,566,700) or employs 250 people or more
• An overseas company with a UK registered establishment which has 250 or more UK employees (paying income tax in the UK)

The Environment Agency is the UK scheme administrator. Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out an ESOS assessment every four years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

Coral Energy’s accredited ESOS Assessors will work with you to ensure you are legally compliant. 

Phase 2 is now complete, and enforcement is currently being reviewed by the Environment Agency. Fines can be punitive, so it is critical that if you do qualify for ESOS you are compliant. Get in touch to see how we can assist you with Phase 2, as well as the upcoming Phase 3.
